Examination Boards


Edexcel (formerly ULEAC)
Edexcel is the UK's largest awarding body to offer a range of both general and specialist qualifications, for UK and international markets. These include GCEs, GCSEs and BTEC qualifications, as well as NVQs, GNVQs and key skills. Edexcel is also a leading force in modernising assessment, teaching and learning environments through the application of groundbreaking IT and other creative solutions.

AQA (formerly AEB/SEG and NEAB)
The Assessment and Qualifications Alliance (AQA) came into existence in April 2000 following the merger of the Associated Examining Board and the Northern Examinations and Assessment Board and is the largest of the three English unitary awarding bodies.

OCR (Oxford, Cambridge and RSA Examinations)
OCR is responsible to the Government as one of the UK's leading awarding bodies providing qualifications to students at school, college, in work or through part-time learning programmes.

Independent Schools' Careers Organisation (ISCO)
Provides nearly 400 member schools with professional training, careers education support and a programme of conferences and meetings. Approximately 15,000 students enrol annually in the ISCO Student Scheme.

UCAS
UCAS is the central organisation that processes applications for full-time undergraduate courses at UK universities and colleges

ECCTIS
ECCTIS is a private consortium which manages the Course Discover database and the UK NARIC service. The Course Discover database covers over 120,000 courses at over 1,000 universities and colleges of further and higher education, throughout the UK. It provides information about undergraduate, postgraduate, further education and professional courses.

American College Board SAT Exam Registration
The College Board is a national nonprofit membership association whose mission is to prepare, inspire, and connect students to college success and opportunity in America. Founded in 1900, the association is composed of more than 4,500 schools, colleges, universities, and other educational organizations. Each year, the College Board serves over three million students and their parents, 23,000 high schools, and 3,500 colleges through major programs and services in college admissions, guidance, assessment, financial aid, enrollment, and teaching and learning.

Independent Schools Council information service
The information, public relations and media activities of the ISC (Independent Schools Council) are carried out by the Independent schools Council information service (ISCis). ISCis produces many publications for parents, including a comprehensive annual guide, and an annual census of schools as well as its website. The ISCis press and public relations office handles relations with the media on behalf of ISC and the seven leading associations of independent schools and provides marketing and public relations services to ISC schools. ISC International is also part of ISCis.

Boarding Schools Association
The BSA is the UK Association promoting and serving boarding education. The organisation promotes the qualities of boarding life provided by all types of boarding schools in membership of the Association and encourages the highest standards of welfare for boarding pupils in its member schools.
The BSA has a series of programmes for its members including professional development, publications, information, advice and support and offers a consultancy service to parents and young people considering boarding education.
